805.494.1015 Cell E-mail Website: In 1980, Patti Coughlin began studying health in college hoping to work in the immerging field of complimentary and alternative medicine. After twenty years of working in western (allopathic) medicine, she had no idea that her original objective would be realized when she discovered the benefits of massage therapy. Having worked with athletes, cardiovascular patients and everyone in between, she started her professional career as a clinical research manager after earning a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. Working for UCLA and surrounding community hospitals, her job dealt with the effect of stress on the body. After moving to the Conejo Valley in 2000, Patti sought a more peaceful and flexible way to work. She decided to enroll in massage school quite by accident. Receiving her first massage, she was struck by the power of reconnecting to her own mind/body energy and wanted to learn more. She soon began studying for the initial 1000 hours required to obtain a license in massage therapy. Her experience in medicine, complimented by her technical proficiency in bodywork gives Patti the ability to understand and intuitively address her client’s needs in a holistic manner. Her approach to the art of massage matches what she truly believes – relaxing the body allows the individual to reconnect with their “true” self and renew the spirit. This is accomplished by reaching all the senses – touch, sight, sound, smell, and even taste. She continues to study bodywork and build her own practice and has enjoyed teaching massage, managing a spa, and has served a spokes person for an organic skincare line. She has also aligned her practice with other like-minded, skilled bodyworkers to offer an unparalleled, integrity-based, service. |
